Compare the service model before the price

Expat tax providers do not all sell the same product. Some are professional preparation firms where a tax professional prepares and reviews the return. Others are guided software products where the taxpayer performs most of the data entry and tax-prep workflow. Hybrid services sit between those models with optional review or advisor support. Comparing the lowest advertised price from each category can therefore create a false impression of value.

A useful comparison starts with the forms you expect to need: Form 2555 or 1116, FBAR, Form 8938, state returns, foreign corporation or partnership reporting, PFIC forms, trusts, pensions, prior-year returns and amendments. After that, compare who prepares the return, who reviews it, how questions are handled, whether catch-up work is supported, and what the all-in engagement costs for your actual fact pattern.

Why TFX comparisons have separate pages

Each provider comparison targets a distinct search destination. Greenback, Bright!Tax and 1040 Abroad are closer professional-service comparisons, while MyExpatTaxes, Expatfile and general tax software introduce more self-service or hybrid workflows. Keeping those comparisons separate prevents one oversized page from collapsing materially different user intents into a single generic ranking.
